Los Angeles County Economic Development -   The mission of the LAEDC is to attract, retain and grow businesses and jobs for the regions of LA County.  Just as the region’s economy has grown, so have the breadth and impact of the LAEDC’s programs and services. Today the LAEDC’s Business Assistance Program has helped create or retain nearly 152,000 jobs, with a direct economic impact of $7.5 billion and $127 million in annual tax revenue benefit to Los Angeles County.  They promote proactive leadership for a strong economy through the Southern California Leadership Council and facilitate global connections through the World Trade Center Los Angeles-Long Beach (WTCA LA-Long Beach).

Los Angeles County Department of Public Works -  Here you can register your business and bid on county contracts.  The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and the Department of Public Works want you to succeed in obtaining a share of "shovel ready" and stimulus funded contracts available through the County. View presentation and FAQ's about available road, bridge, building, airport, flood control, energy, and consulting contracting opportunities as well as an update on the Economic Stimulus Package funding.

Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk - handles property records, marriage licenses and ceremonies, birth and death certificates, and many other services.  Also oversees the Orange County Archives, where materials detailing the history of Los Angeles County can be found.

Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning -   performs all land use planning functions for the unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. Our services include long range planning, land development counseling, project/case intake and processing, environmental review and zoning enforcement for each of our County unincorporated communities.

Los Angeles County Land Use and Zoning - How communities use land within their boundaries is referred to as land use policy. Land use policy establishes the basic type and intensity of uses permitted by the General Plan for each land use category, including the overall maximum density for residential development and maximum intensity of development for commercial and industrial uses. Effective land use policy adapts to fast-changing environmental, social and economic conditions.

Los Angeles County Permits and Licenses - The government requires businesses to obtain permits and licenses to conduct their operations, but the requirement varies dependent on the location of the company and the type of services it provides. Certain types of businesses are required to have business licenses. Those in unincorporated areas should check with the County Business License Office to see if they are required to have a license, while those in cities should check with their city halls. In addition, specialized businesses may be required to obtain additional licenses or permits, like pest control operators and food establishments. The state regulates some industries as well. The majority of businesses are required to register a fictitious name statement.

Los Angeles County Treasurer and Tax Collector  - is responsible for collecting taxes on all secured and unsecured property in Los Angeles County. This office is also responsible for the sale of property subject to the "power to sell," formerly known as delinquent tax deeded property. The Tax Collector also provides remittance processing services, information system services, and departmental administrative support. Los Angeles County GIS Maps - This mapping service will provide you with basic information about resources within Los Angeles County. Allow for interactively viewing and investigating zoning, land use policy, subdivision activity, aerial imagery, and many other features pertaining to land use within the unincorporated communities of Los Angeles County. These applications also allow the user to create markups and save map extents to Portable Data Format (PDF), which can then be printed.

Los Angeles County Environmental Health - The Environmental Health Division strives to promote health and quality of life by identifying, preventing, and controlling harmful environmental factors in Los Angeles County. This site contains a variety of environmental health information, including inspection results, food safety, housing, pest control, and ocean water quality. Specialists enforce the requirements contained in the California Retail Food Code which is part of the California Health and Safety Code.

Small Business Award Program  –  The annual CoolCalifornia Small Business Award Program is administered by the California Air Resources Board.  The program recognizes small California businesses and organizations (under 100 employees) that have demonstrated exceptional leadership and made notable, voluntary achievements towards reducing their climate impact.

Small Business Financial Resources - The first thing every small business interested in state and federal stimulus projects should know is you are NOT too late.
