Part 2
Why should you work with a Broker?
“OK, smart guys...with the potential for a good financial hosing, why the heck should I use one in the first place?”
That one’s easy…
Because, there are many honest, hardworking and experienced real estate brokers out there. The real trick, of course, is finding one.
Tip:
When first choosing a real estate broker, please do not pick friends, relatives, ex-
wives or friends of friends to represent you. Because of the money and risks
involved, you need the best representation possible. If you choose to work with a
broker during your search, try and choose someone that’s experienced in your type
of requirement and takes the time to understand you and your business.
Avoid
anyone you don’t trust implicitly.
Also, don’t be swayed into working with one of the big real estate firms in your area just because they’re the biggest real estate firm in the area.
Although it’s true that many of the larger brokerage firms have many people working for them and probably know most of the landlords and developers in the area, bigger is not necessarily better when it comes to independent real estate development.
Remember, regardless of the size of your requirement, you want an experienced individual working for you, not just a marquee name on the door. To many of the larger real estate firms you may be nothing more than a little fish in a very big pond. Your requirement would be ripe to hand over to one of the more junior brokers in the firm.
So,what should you expect from your broker?
